If you have an unpredictable working schedule and need flexibility, and you’re looking for an excellent, respectful, kind, patient and value-for-money driving lesson, I highly recommend giving Ely and ‘No Ls, Bristol’ a chance!

Ely (Eleazar) is an exceptional driving instructor who helped me pass my driving test at Avonmouth Test Centre on my first attempt. He’s incredibly patient and supportive throughout our lessons, always encouraging me to take on new challenges like exploring unfamiliar driving test routes. He’s done so remarkably well. Ely is also excellent at giving clear and respectful instructions and feedback, even providing a formal report. I was surprised to receive one, which clearly demonstrates his dedication to his job and students. Furthermore, he’s very flexible with his driving schedule, accommodating my working shifts.

Having been close to taking a test when I was 20, I came back to learning to drive (manual) with Pete 5 years later. Within a year, Pete rebuilt my confidence and I was able to pass 1st time at the notoriously tricky test centre in Kingswood having known friends of mine to have failed there on multiple occasions.

Not only is Pete a safe and calm instructor, he develops the same characteristics in your driving attitude by encouraging you in your strengths and supporting improvement in your weaker areas with a holistic approach that balances both the theoretical and practical aspects of learning to drive.

I am glad I decided to delay learning to drive, since Pete has made me a far better driver for it and with Pete’s expertise the roads of Bristol are far safer. It has been a pleasure learning to drive with Pete … even though he’s a united fan 😉

Pete was recommended to me by my Brother, who also passed under Pete’s tuition. I passed with Pete 1st time with zero faults. My driving journey has been a very long road for me as I have had multiple set backs for various reasons. I had three previous instructor’s prior to Pete with the AA and RED driving schools. I wasn’t particularly impressed with my previous instructors as they weren’t a great fit for me. I have a disability the impacts my processing speed, reaction times and ability to multi-task. I shared this with Pete and he took this onboard throught my entire journey with him, in fact I started out with a manual car and half way through a lesson Pete swapped me to Automatic. A wise decision and one I will always be grateful for. Pete is an outstanding instructor and knows what he is doing. He is patient, calm and very good at analyzing mistakes and why they occurred and therefore tailoring each lesson individually. Pete even went the extra mile with me and took me to find my first car, sitting in the shop with me as I went through the paperwork and even assisting with the test drive. I’ve been learning to drive for two years, and after starting with another instructor who wasn’t the right fit, I moved over to Pete after failing first time – and it was the best decision I could’ve made. From the moment I began lessons with him, everything changed for the better.

Pete has been an amazing instructor. I was a difficult student who needed a lot of extra help with my lessons after failing my first test with my previous instructor. When we first met I had a lot of bad habits and really couldn’t drive at all but with a lot of hard work we got through it eventually and I passed my first test under Pete’s guidance.

He has been great company, and extremely flexible, even helping to accommodate for changes in my schedule when possible.

Just passed my test after driving lessons with Pete. He is a fantastic instructor, incredibly calm and patient. After a number of experiences with less than favourable driving instructors I was so lucky to find Pete who taught me to drive thoroughly and really helped me to enjoy the process. I waited until I was 45 and really nervous and twitchy to learn to drive. Pete took me on and he had his work cut out trying to keep me calm but he did it. I started with Pete after previously being with another instructor, and immediately he identified that I wasn’t being taught properly. Pete was so thorough went through all the basics from the very beginning and taught me skills I will never forget. He managed to identify any errors in my driving and helped me to work through them and practice until I got it right. Pete was always very kind and gentle with me as I suffer from quite severe anxiety which came from lessons with a previous instructor but I always felt safe and supported. He is an excellent teacher!

I had 6 lessons to improve my driving ahead of the test and Pete immediately identified the reasons why I was struggling with my driving and we worked on those. I passed 1st time no minors! Thank you so much Pete!

One take pass with one minor fault only! I made that one minor fault because I misunderstood examiner’s instruction, parked in a wrong place. 😂

Auto car. Spent 50 hours with Pete. I couldn’t get a test date for Kingswood, so we spent a few times driving to Avonmouth to practice. Round trip time is 1 hour. If I could get Kingswood, probably I just needed 40 something hours.

I tried 2 hours with MrCarrs (bad attitude, not professional and stall the time) before having lessons with Pete. Pete teaches with heart and passion. Surprisingly, he is qualified to be examiner and still charge with a low price!

Had Pete as my driving instructor and what can I say except an excellent detailed instructor. From day one made me feel in control of the car and we went on the test at the perfect day, he’s an expert and couldn’t recommend his driving instruction anymore

Had about 44 hours of lessons with Pete and was able to pass my test first time with 5 minors.

I had a bad instructor before but Pete really worked with me, took the time to understand my learning style and retrain me so I could feel confident in myself. If you’re an anxious driver he’ll put you at ease. The tips he gave are so useful I continue to use them when I drive.

Admittedly he said I wasn’t quite ready for the test yet so I had to use my own car, however he talked me through the test the day before, gave me tips on the layout of the test centre itself so I didn’t make a silly mistake in the car park, tricks that would help me personally with my anxiety etc. He even messaged me after the test to ask how I got on.

He’s an absolute gem of an instructor, couldn’t recommend him any more highly!

Pete was my third driving instructor, as I moved addresses during lessons with the previous two. I am therefore in a unique position

to compare Pete’s teaching with other instructors. I can honestly say that Pete was the most thorough, knowledgeable and patient of the lot. Not only is he a fantastic teacher, but he’s also a lovely person.

Pete has seen it all, and knows exactly what to say and how to react to literally every circumstance you may come across on the road. He was able to spot the smallest of details within my driving that were leading me into bigger issues. Highlighting these to me and challenging me in a supportive and constructive way to iron these out of my driving. Not only this, but he had unique advice and approaches to driving that

made so much more sense to me than my previous instructors.

His teaching is distinctive. He encompassed teaching methods that ranged from iPad tools/diagrams, Youtube videos and descriptive writing to offer an enhanced learning journey – beyond the actual driving. Engaging with his teaching practises has led me to pass my practical test

today with only 1 minor!

I believe it was the fact he takes his time to explain in depth, and with a clarity that only comes from someone as professional as him – areas of improvement that I was able to pass the test with such destinction.

Please consider using Pete as your driving instructor. I can gaurantee that you won’t regret your choice, time with Pete is worth every penny.

He treats you as an individual, figures out what works for you and what is standing in your way, and tailors his approach to suit you personally – this is the sign of an excellent teacher in my view! I started lessons with Pete when my previous instructor failed to provide quality lessons. I was quite disappointed at that point, but Pete took me under “ his wing” and taught me not only how to pass the test, but also how to drive safely and skilfully. Pete’s lessons were always structured and aimed to help me to understand all driving rules. I used to dislike Bristol’s big spiral roundabouts, but after lessons with Pete, they became easy and understandable for me. I would definitely recommend Pete as he is a very knowledgeable, structured, patient instructor who works hard and puts “ his soul “ in his lessons. Thank you so much, Pete 🙂

When I met Pete for my first lesson, I was an absolute bag of nerves.

Pete was patient and supportive and put me at ease during my time in the car, identifying my barriers and fears enabling us to work through them together.

Pete’s teaching was very much structured to meet my needs, helping me not just to pass my test but preparing me for my driving in the future.

The end result was a pass on my first attempt with no driver faults.

Pete was my instructor. I turned out to be quite a nervous driver at times but with Pete’s help, I was able to develop my skills and become a more confident driver. My instructor was Pete, and although I had to do an extended test he still took me under his wing, I had previous 4 years driving experience and just wanted to sharpen on the standards, and he done above and beyond of what I could of imagined, teaching me Road sense that I know goes over a lot of peoples head. Really proved to me that although having great control of the car is great, having a perfect understanding of the roads and positioning will take you a long way.. I was fortunate enough to learn with Pete and as a driving instructor I couldn’t recommend him highly enough. Pete took me on after my last instructor changed to automatic. After my first lesson of driving he managed to find all my faults and made me relax more. After a month I had a addressed these bad habits and my driving improved dramatically. I passed today but I feel if I had Pete from the start I would of passed with no minors.

My driving instructor Matthew was an excellent teacher. He was patient, encouraging, very clear with his explanations, and he helped me pass first time with only 4 minors! Matt helped me be a safe yet confident driver. He has little phrases which were very useful and easy to remember whilst driving and taking the test. Matt also helped my sister pass first time. I have had several (4 to be exact) driving instructors over the past few years but would highly recommend Pete over all of them! I started lessons with No L’s of Bristol after taking 3 failed tests with another teacher (one of which had 4 MAJORS!) And the contrast between how stressed lessons used to make me, and how at ease Pete made me feel actually made me cry at the end of my first lesson out of relief. Pete is a brilliant teacher and genuinely cares about his pupils driving and safety AFTER their test, and worked hard to build my confidence as a driver. I passed my second test with Pete and feel as though I’m ready to confidently drive alone – thank you Pete!!

I have just passed my test with three minors driving with Peter!

I have been working hard to pass my test and Peter was there all the way to support and accommodate my needs and most of all be very persistent.

Peter is very consistent in his teaching and is very able and very good at spotting what areas need improvement and praises you for the good work that you are doing.

I had a car accident in the past and I knew that driving myself would come with some anxiety. Peter was very understanding and so, he tailored his teaching techniques to fit me and get me the pass!

I recommend Peter with all my heart and I thank him very much for all the work he has done with me!

I had been learning to drive for 8 and a half years with multiple instructors and 5 fails under my belt, until I met Pete and within 6 months I passed!!! I cannot thank him enough for his time and patience, he goes absolutely above and beyond for his pupils. I used to be so anxious and hated the thought of driving but Pete has such a calming nature about him it wasn’t long before he worked out where I was lacking confidence and didn’t give up working on that until I felt comfortable and confident! To start with I would like to say that I was a nervous and anxious driver, I would try to escape situations rather than handle them calmly. When I started with Pete I would try to squeeze through gaps, drive too quickly in dangerous situations and any number of other errors would be committed. The first lesson with Pete was incredible it felt like a therapy session, his calm voice and confident demeanor showed me that I am the master of my own driving. His confidence being able to take control of a situation when I was not able to handle it was invaluable. As the lessons progressed his teaching style helped me gain more and more confidence. I’ve been through 3 instructors in the past and had failed 2 tests before settling on Pete. It’s probably the best decision I made. I passed on my first attempt after doing lessons with pete. Just passed my test first time with two minors at the ripe old age of 28. I can’t recommend Pete at No L’s enough, he was a fantastic mentor with a truly impressive amount of wisdom and driving experience.

Very tolerant and patient considering that I was initially quite nervous behind the wheel, having never had any previous driving experience as a teenager. Pete clearly cares about making you a competent and safe driver rather than just ticking boxes for what you need to scrape through the test, and takes the time to tell you why you should do things rather than instructing you to do them without question.

He was responsive to feedback at all times and frequently checked to make sure I was happy with what he’s teaching and setting goals moving forward. Supremely knowledgeable in all things car-related and an all around great bloke, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have had to sit in a car with for two hours a week!

I booked in some refresher lessons with Pete at No L’s Driving School as I found that I had lost a lot of confidence in driving over the years and found myself anxious about using the car. I was a bit embarrassed booking lessons at 53yrs old and with over 30 years of driving under my belt but Pete was very re-assuring and explained that this is not uncommon. Thanks to Pete I now enjoy driving again and have new freedoms.

Neil has been my only driving instructor because straight away we clicked, he is very patient, thrives for the student to pass and keeps an eye on your weak points.

From lesson one he put me straight on the roads, there was no messing about! I didn’t spend 2 hours in a parking lot doing loops. I was put into the action.

When Neil knows there is something you not comfortable with, for instance mine was roundabouts. He will make sure you overcome that fear.

Neil has a good personality, lots of banter, funny chats and answers all your questions.

His instructions are clear, he explains where you go wrong, and shows you everything you could experience in a driving test.

I passed my after my 2nd test. fantastic instructor, I wouldn’t give him a miss.

I can’t believe I passed!!! When I first started driving I had absolutely no confidence, I didn’t even know how to start a car let alone drive on the road. Luckily I had pete who was so patient with me and taught me everything at my own pace and never rushed me into doing anything I wasn’t comfortable doing yet. Because of pete I passed my driving test first time, he’s an amazing instructor and can’t thank him enough for how much he’s helped me

Yesterday I passed my test with Pete. Pete was excellent and so supportive. He gave me back the confidence that I had lost after failing my test 5 times with a previou instructor. I have just passed my practical exam with zero faults!

Initially when I contacted Pete at No L’s Bristol Driving Lessons, I thought I would just need a couple of hours ‘refresher’ as I had driven previously. It was immediately clear after my first lesson that I wasn’t ready at all since I struggled to drive to the end of my street.

Pete is very effective at picking up your driving faults and making them disappear. He gives constructive feedback and gave me regular mock tests so that I could see clearly where I needed to make improvements.

Pete has shown amazing communication skills and responds quickly to messages. He is punctual and has a modern high quality car which insures that your drive is safe and pleasant.

He definitely pays attention to details and he is highly professional in his approach.

I would absolutely recommend Pete to my family and friends.

Pete did an excellent job of getting my general driving skills up to scratch before taking my C1 category driving test in order for me to apply for the Ambulance Service. I am happy to say I passed my test last week! 🙂

Pete tailored my lessons for my personal needs and made good use of software on his IPad which helped me visualise things better. He also got me to watch useful videos and practice certain techniques in my every day driving between lessons which really made a difference.

He was very patient, with a strong element of calm, which put me at ease. He explained things clearly and didn’t miss a trick when observing my driving. And of course, he listened to my feedback. He also made the effort to fit me in his schedule, even on short notice.

Best driving instructor I’ve ever had, he was my fourth instructor in the 9 years i sort of half heartedly attempted to learn to drive, mainly due to previous instructors not making me feel that confident in my ability and also being slightly wary of other drivers on the road (there’s some seriously dodgy ones out there lol) but seriously Pete’s really good, he got me out of a few bad habits I had really quickly and made you feel like driving was easy and not something to be worried about, and finally I passed first time of asking (oh and he’s a top bloke as well!!!) cheers Pete

Possibly the best driving instructor in existence… Pete is excellent. His expert knowledge and techniques combined with his professional mannerisms and patience make him a true pleasure to learn from. I knew I was onto a winner with Pete from the outset. It’d been 12 years since I last drove a car and had failed my test 5 times. I recently decided to give it another go and found Pete and the No L’s driving school. I’m so glad I did because I then discovered that driving didn’t have to be scary, it can be fun! The Mini Cooper is a lovely car to drive. Pete’s great, he’s got a calming presence and is a genuinely nice guy. He tuned in to my driving and gave me tips that really helped, like driving without shoes. So I always drive in my socks and I talk out loud about what i’m doing which really helps me focus. So what if it’s a bit quirky, it works for me! Today I passed my test, first time with Pete!! After moving from London to Bristol, I got googling straight away and came across No L’s Driving School. I gave Pete a quick call and had me booked in straight away with ease for the following week!

I had some driving experience before in lessons but it didn’t take long for Pete to realise where my weak spots where in Driving. During my lessons in the following weeks I really did feel improvements taking place in my performance, confidence, concentration, coordination and multitasking. Pete really is great in talking you through your manoeuvres in a very calm methodical way so that you remember how to carry out your actions efficiently and safely. Pete was also able to be reasonably flexible with my schedule around work and help me get the lessons I needed during the weeks. Just Passed today, First time, Can’t thank Pete enough, his teaching is excellent, very calming voice, really gave me the confidence I needed to go into the test and nail it first time. I had a deadline to get this done and he ensured that I had all the hours that he thought I needed to get straight through. If you are looking for a driving school then I couldn’t recommend these more.

If you are learning to drive, you will struggle to find a better school than No L’s. I wish I found this school when I was first learning! I took the Pass Plus course after not driving for six years since passing my test. I was an extremely nervous driver and Pete instantly put me at ease by being incredibly patient and easy to get on with. His many years of experience as a driving instructor mean you get expert tuition and in-depth knowledge. Pete is very thorough and pinpointed those areas of driving which needed more work so that I could improve.

Pass Plus covers motorways, all weathers, night driving and country roads, which made me feel happier about being in a car again. Pete is professional, encouraging and dedicated to ensuring that his pupils are safe, competent and relaxed drivers. I was unsure whether I would ever get to grips with driving but I feel so much more confident now, thank you!

I am an established Taxi Owner / Driver in the Mendip area and from April 2014 the local Licensing Authority adopted a new Taxi Policy designed to raise standards.

Part of this new Policy includes the requirement for all existing Mendip Taxi Drivers to pass the DSA Practical Taxi Driving Test by October 2015. While researching the subject online, I was fortunate to come across Pete’s Bryces No L’s website.

From my initial phone call Pete knew exactly what was required, so I arranged to meet in Brislington for an assessment. After this I had a further two sessions of really professional tuition, spaced over the following 4 weeks.

I originally passed my driving test getting on for 10 years ago. I was only driving for a year and a half when unfortunately I had a serious accident. The result was an amount of points on my license which meant I would have to retake the test again. As I was living and working in London I didn’t need a car so left it alone. Fast forward to the present I now have a family of my own and moved to Bristol, the urge to get driving again was calling. I failed my practical test twice(!) with an instructor who didn’t seem to pick up on what I needed to refocus on. As I was a good driver he put it down to bad luck. It wasn’t until my girlfriend got driving lessons with Pete that I gave him a go. That was the best decision I made. The thing that impressed me with his style of tuition was we discussed where I was going wrong and put in place a program tailored to iron out and improve my road awareness and positioning which had caused me previous failure. Pete was always questioning my reasons for why I made certain decisions and built up a great understanding of how I managed to fail he tests despite being able to drive. He gave me a much needed reality check on the areas which I was weaker in and I appreciated the honesty he delivered it with. Trust me when I say you will pass your test with Pete as he doesn’t flatter to deceive and will tell it like it is. I had become stressed out with the thought of another test and possible failure but by the time I came to test day I had my confidence in my driving back. I searched a number of Driving Schools in Bristol before going with No L’s. From the start Steve was patient, easy going and friendly to work with. Driving in a Mini Cooper is an real bonus also, an absolute dream to drive. I booked an intensive course, and Steve raised my confidence levels as the lessons went on, to the test, which I passed first time with No L’s with only 5 minors. So so happy and pleased with Steve’s service, if you get the chance to choose your instructor, you won’t regret going with Steve. He is calm, kind, professional, and not too strict or rude like some other instructors can be. Highly recommend No L’s thanks very much for your great service!

Just passed my practical driving test on the 23rd of December 2013 Thanks to Pete. I took the test for the first time and I passed.What an early Christmas present for myself. 😀 I would like to thank him for the help and support he has given while I was having my driving lessons with him. Very knowledgeable, patient and professional! Pete is indeed a great instructor!. He teaches in a calm manner and with positive attitude. He can tell you straight away whats wrong when you are driving. I was able to conquer my fears, correct my bad driving habit and felt more confident driving.

Pete, possibly the calmest person you’ll ever meet. Through his guidance I was able to pass first time. A genuinely nice guy whose adaptive teaching style instantly puts you at ease as he guides you through every aspect of leaning to drive. No L’s was initially recommended to me by a friend who had a very good experience with the driving instructor; Pete.

Having had absolutely no driving tuition prior to contacting Pete, I was quite nervous about being in the drivers seat. However, you’ll find that Pete takes the time to analyse how comfortable you are and adapts the situation to suit you. We were never once in a situation that I did not feel comfortable with.

During the beginning of my tuition with Pete, I was working full time variable shifts. Despite the fact that Pete tends to have a very large amount of clients, it appeared to be no problem at all organising suitable times for lessons. When my situation morphed into full time university stud, Pete was able to offer a consistent time-slot every week.

While the primary goal of driving lessons with any instructor is to get to test standard, Pete will also instill some values and skills into you that will help you become a good driver. We progressed very quickly, however I feel that I also picked up some great habits and much better awareness of the road.

Overall, you’ll find your time with No L’s to be rewarding and productive. Pete is friendly and easy to get along with, and I would recommend this business in a heartbeat.

I passed my test first time, and it only took me just under 3 months from my first lesson! Basically, if you’re going to learn to drive and you live in Bristol, contact Pete. His teaching method is excellent; he is very patient and understanding and has a good sense of humour as well!

Being a naturally stressful (and very forgetful) person, I was pretty anxious about learning to drive, but after my first lesson on the road I already felt comfortable and at ease in the driver’s seat. I was surprised how the things he said really sunk in, and I really took on board everything he said. Even when I had forgotten something he was very patient and never lost his temper surprisingly! Thanks to Pete’s expert advice, after only a couple of lessons I felt like a confident, natural driver, and had booked my test just 6 weeks after my first lesson.

Everyone commented on how quickly I learnt, and how comfortable they feel in the car with me. Pete’s experience is clear to see, the qualifications he has really speak for themselves. Another thing, because I work all week, he was very flexible to fit around my schedule, and I always felt like I was a priority. Pete really picked up on how I like to learn and changed his teaching method to fit that, he is very adaptable to different teaching styles.

I was making a 2 hour bus commute to work; now it’s just a 30 minute drive thanks to Pete! Learning to drive really has made my life so much easier and satisfying, and I can’t thank Pete enough for that! I will be sure to make recommendations to everyone. Thanks again!

I had taken driving lessons before meeting Peter, with 3 other instructors- and No L’s teaching method was far superior. Pete caters for you as an individual, and can instinctively pick up on any problem areas, as well as commending your strengths. I was hopelessly lacking in confidence with my driving, but within a few lessons Pete had explained things in a way that made perfect sense, and my driving improved incredibly quickly. I would recommend No L’s to anyone, and am thoroughly happy with the whole experience

Pete is a very patient and attentive driving instructor. He drives a lovely diesel powered mini cooper. He has been helping me remove unhelpful habits in my driving, bringing up my confidence, helping me to lose unnecessary fears on the road.
